About this poster

Armin Hofmann designed outstanding posters in the 1950s and 1960s and, together with his colleagues, contributed to the development of the Swiss International Style. Hofmann was known for his black and white designs and his skill in conveying a message with the simplest of forms. A typical example of the ‘Swiss Style’ from Armin Hoffmann's later creative years is the original poster from 1963 for the Stadttheater Basel with the photo of Max Mathys.
