About this poster

Alex Walter Diggelmann was one of the most important designers for sport posters in Switzerland. The Zurich cantonal gymnastics day, today the cantonal gymnastics festival, was first carried out in Winterthur in 1860. Since 1975 it has taken place every six years. This poster advertised the 1942 event in Zurich. The design based on the Swiss flag reflects a typical wartime patriotism.
