About this poster

In the 1940s, Donald Brun began to create his famous "Persil Gritli" character. He worked closely with the German laundry detergent manufacturer Henkel, which had a branch in Basel. His creative Persil posters even have a certain relationship to fashion; they are humorous, sweet and human. It was the beginning of a new poster style for Brun: he would introduce a character (here a housewife) which after a while would become the company’s emblem.
