After a business apprenticeship, Karl Erny worked in journalism and became an advertising consultant at Max Dalang in Zurich. In 1927, he founded his own advertising agency and in 1935 he co-founded the Bund Schweizerischer Werbeberater (“association of Swiss advertising consultants”, today bsw leading swiss agencies). Erny also wrote several reference books.
