About this poster
The hallmark of Armin Hofmann's work was the use of basic graphic elements such as the dot, line and shape. He managed to embody both simplicity and complexity in his designs. Hofmann is famous for his brilliant poster designs in the 1950s and 1960s. He used colour and type particularly sparingly and is known for his use of black and white imagery and his ability to convey a message with the simplest of forms. This original poster for the Kunsthalle Basel from 1950 is a wonderful example of the so-called ‘Swiss style’.
