Adolf Attenhofer from Davos became Swiss skiing champion in the combined event in 1917. Seven years later, he opened a small sports equipment factory because he was not satisfied with the ski technology of the time. In the following decades, Attenhofer evolved into the most important ski factory in Switzerland and became the leading manufacturer of metal skis in Europe from 1952.

Werner Weiskönig was born in 1907 in Chemnitz, Germany and lived in St. Gallen, Switzerland until his death in 1982. From 1924 to 1927 he studied applied arts in St. Gallen before continuing his studies from 1930 to 1931 at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf.
