About this poster
There can hardly be another Art Deco advertisement for Ascona quite like this colourful poster designed by Otto Ernst in 1934. It features the promenade along the shore of Lake Maggiore and evokes a feeling of “dolce far niente” in the sunny south of Ticino. A decorative and perfectly lithographed rarity.

Otto ERNST was born in 1884 in he Swiss canton of Aargau. After his apprenticeship as a graphic designer, he studied in Florence and in Paris where in 1910 he became a student of Eugène Grasset at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière.
