About this poster
Viktor Rutz created this daring poster for the growing tourist resort of Arosa in 1935. Various organisations, such as women’s associations and even the SBB, complained about the poster and considered it tasteless and sexist. The poster was allegedly even banned. When it was reprinted in 2006 by Arosa Tourism, there were complaints again. The tourism director remarked that a little fresh mountain air couldn’t hurt to cool down tempers.

Viktor Rutz (Ruzo) was born in 1913 in Straubenzell, St. Gallen. He was a painter, illustrator and graphic designer. From 1931 to 1945, he created about 200 posters in a realistic style that gave him international recognition.
