With the Locarno, Nyon and Solothurn festivals and, since 2005, the Zurich Film Festival, Switzerland has a long tradition in the film industry. Zurich is famous for its first-class cinema offering, which can compete with that of Paris and Berlin. The Filmpodium is a cultural institution of the city of Zurich and a partner cinema of Cinématique suisse. These Swiss arthouse cinemas show retrospectives of classics from film history, advertised with award-winning posters by well-known poster designers.
