Rolex, CH

In 1905, the German-born Hans Wilsdorf founded a business in London selling high-quality timepieces. At the time, it was all about pocket watches, but Wilsdorf was determined to popularise the wristwatch. In 1914 the company was renamed The Rolex Watch Company Ltd. In 1919 the Rolex headquarters were moved to Geneva, Switzerland. In 1927 Rolex patented and launched the world’s first waterproof watch, the Rolex Oyster. This became quite possibly the most famous watch in the world and cemented Rolex’ reputation. Rolex has become a global brand with a distribution network from Toronto to Tokyo and produces more than 800,000 timepieces each year. Rolex watches have become globally recognised status symbols.
