Ovomaltine is a soluble powder containing malt, cocoa and egg which can be mixed with hot or cold milk. Developed in Berne in 1904 and originally marketed as special nutrition for convalescents, this drink has been very popular in Switzerland for many generations. The Ovomaltine manufacturer Wander was acquired by Associated British Foods in 2002, but the factory remained in Neuenegg, Berne.
