Mürren, BE, CH

The car-free mountain village of Mürren in the Bernese Oberland lies on a terrace high above the Lauterbrunnen valley. It is at the foot of the Schilthorn summit, which became world famous thanks to the 1960s Bond film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”, which included scenes shot in the revolving restaurant on the summit. Mürren also offers views of the towering mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau across the valley. Winter sports have been particularly important in Mürren's history; the Englishman Sir Arnold Lunn invented the slalom ski race here in 1922.
