GLOBUS - GLOBI, CH

Globi is probably the most popular Swiss children’s cartoon character. He was created in 1932 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Globus department store: Ignatius Karl Schiele, the head of the advertising department, and the illustrator Robert Lips developed Globi, the Globus mascot, to entertain children. Globi took part in children’s events and festivals and became extremely popular. He became the hero of his own comic book in 1935, when “Globis Weltreise” was published with a print run of 8000 copies. By 1948, a million copies of Globi comic books had been sold. Today, the books are published by Orell Füssli and the success story continues.
