CAMPARI

The history of Campari is said to have begun in the 1840s with the development of the original recipe by Gaspare Campari, who in 1860 laid the foundations for today’s spirits company Davide Campari, Milano, S.p.A., which was later named after his son. The first Campari factory was opened in Sesto San Giovanni in 1904. The company advertised bars bearing the brand logo. Under the management of Davide Campari, the company began exporting the drink, initially to Nice and soon also overseas. In 1904, the Ceruti Mercantile Co. in San Francisco recommended itself as the sole importer and the two products Cordial Campari (no longer produced today) as an after-dinner liqueur and Campari Bitter, which was to be enjoyed with mineral water or vermouth. Due to its predominantly bitter flavour, the Italian liqueur CAMPARI is marketed as bitter and is usually used as an aperitif in long drinks or cocktails. Campari is one of the 50 most valuable spirits brands in the world
