Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) was born in Màlaga, Spain, and studied at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. In 1904 he moved to Paris and lived mostly in France from then on. An incredibly productive artist throughout his entire life, he made drawings, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, prints and tapestries. He painted in many different styles (realism, symbolism, modernism, cubism, surrealism…), which is why his work is categorized into periods. Among his most famous works is Guernica, painted in 1937. Lithography became an important means of expression for him in the late 1940s. From 1961 until his death, Picasso lived in Mougins, near Cannes, and worked tirelessly as a painter, graphic designer, sculptor, potter and poet.
