Albert Pfister

Albert Pfister was a Swiss artist who was born in Stäfa in 1884 and died in Erlenbach in 1978. He was a landscape painter, portraitist and theoretician. He was trained in Zurich and by the Parisian avant-garde. The style of Pfister’s paintings has much in common with that of the Fauvists. In 1913 Pfister joined the Swiss artist group “Der Moderne Bund”, which was the first to make modern art familiar and accessible in Switzerland.
