Iwan Edwin Hugentobler
Iwan Edwin HUGENTOBLER was born in Degersheim in 1886 and died in Zurich in 1972. He was a painter and graphic designer.
After studying at the vocational school of St. Gallen, he became a designer for a St. Gallen embroidery company and taught at the school from 1915 to 1920. He was especially interested in images of horses and took classes with the animal painter Adolf Thomann. Hugentobler became known as a painter of horses and an illustrator of documentary images relating to military themes. He mainly created posters featuring horses and equestrian sports.
