Edouard Elzingre

Edouard Elzingre was born in Neuchâtel in 1880, attended the school of applied arts in La Chaux-de-Fonds and became a student of Charles L’Eplattenier. From 1899 to 1903 he attended the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris and subsequently worked as an illustrator for Parisian publishing houses. In 1906 Elzingre moved to Geneva and became employed at the Atar printing company. During this time he created numerous posters, mainly for the Geneva horse show. Edouard Elzingre died in Geneva in 1966 and is considered to have been one of the most important poster designers of Western Switzerland.
