Hermann Eidenbenz

Hermann Eidenbenz was born in India to Swiss parents in 1902. He was trained as a graphic designer at the Orell Füssli printing company in Zurich from 1919 to 1922, then became a student of Ernst Keller at the Zurich School of Arts and Crafts. He then taught in Germany before returning to Switzererland and founding the Eidenbenz studio for photography and graphic design in Basel with his brothers in 1933.
Eidenbenz designed several Swiss bank notes and was part of the first generation of Swiss designers who applied photography and sans-serif typography in advertising.
