Roger Broders

Roger Broders was born in Paris in 1883 and died there in 1953. He was one of the most important French poster designers, best known for his travel posters, especially those he created for the railway company PLM (Paris Lyon Méditerannée). PLM sponsored many of his travels so that he could visit the places he was commissioned to promote, such as the glamorous French Riviera resorts. His illustrations, which are distinctive for their simple lines and bright colours, show elegantly dressed people and beautiful landscapes, with the name of the destination and a short slogan written in simple, bold lettering.
Broders greatly influenced the successive generations of graphic designers, and his posters, which are still very appealing for today’s audiences, are coveted collector’s items.
