Edmond Bille

Edmond BILLE studied at the School of Fine Arts of Geneva and from there went to Paris, where from 1895 to 1897 he was a student at the Julian Academy under Jean-Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant. In 1900, he took part in the Paris Universal Exhibition before returning permantently to the Valais region of Switzerland in 1902. As founder and director of the satirical magazine L‘Arbalète, Bille was in contact with, among others, Romain Rolland and Rainer Maria Rilke. He took part in numerous exhibitions such as the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 1912 and 1914. In 1924 he was awarded the diploma of honour at the Leipzig Book Exhibition.
